Decaying sculptures from charred bread
A process of creation which already includes the later destruction of the object by natural forces. Can a decaying human construction feed local biomes? Saprophilic Structures is an ongoing research of sculptural works whose aesthetic complexity increases through decomposition and interaction with natural forces, questioning the human preference for durable materials, such as plastic, clay or gold. Could decay instead be integrated into human craft as an opportunity for circularity and invitation for biological maintenance? The Saprophiliac approaches her work of art as a bio-participatory process in a local ecosystem.
