How to facilitate a peaceful co-existence of humans and other species on planet Earth?
Co-Hiving is a workshop and field research, acting as impulse to incorporate biological processes such as decay and primary succession into the way we think of construction.
During the workshop participants investigate edible materials, such as bread, in order to create biodegradable habitats for microbes, insects and fungi.
The resulting sculptures are not only valuable as expressions of human creativity but are able to initiate primary succession and sustain populations of microbiological diversity. Eventually, each object dissolves and is being eaten by the flora and fauna of its surroundings.
The transformation of each object is being observed over time.
A Workshop and Field Research
How often does one get to taste a single molecule?
Around 11 Molecules are known to science, which can be tasted by humans. In different combinations those molecules, also called Volatile Organic Compounds, make up the flavours of all foods we eat every day. They are major agents in a billion dollar flavouring industry as well.
The molecule tasting offers an experience of high quality and food grade isolated volatiles, dissolved in different media and accompanied by selected food items. Before the dinner it is necessary for the guests to agree to the consumption of chemicals by signing the menu.
A soft, careful introduction to the intriguing workings of food chemistry and promotes curiosity and public awareness of complex scientific topics.

SPICES FROM 24 MOLECULES
OF A STRAWBERRY
24 molecules make the flavour of each strawberry. In industry they are very well known. How would eating habits change if everyone knew about aroma molecules? Atoma makes industrial knowledge transparent for everybody.
About 11 000 aroma molecules are known to science. That’s 11 000 different flavours. What if we had them all available to us at home in form of spices? A molecule is an individual, with a specific structure, taste and chemical formula. Atoma is about providing each of them a 3d printed body.
